Want to Know More

  • Why am I required to read the "Services" page of this website before booking my appointment?
All drivers/clients desire to successfully complete their examination in the shortest, least cumbersome way possible! And, so do we at DOT Exam Clinic. Our experience has been that many do not know what is required of them and place the sole responsibility of their health and career in the hands of the Examiner. In our estimation, education of the medically compromised driver or athlete has been extremely lacking. But no more! We have proactively created a space to make you aware of and to equip you with knowledge and education needed for you to take action to ensure a "stress-less" and swift visit. And if you have a question concerning what you may need, please call us or chat. We will get back with you as soon as we can!
  • Other clinics allow walk-ins. Do you?
Endless lines. Hours waiting. Unsure of what documentation you need to bring, if any. Umm... We desire a little more order and predictability. If an online appointment is still available, grab it, while learning what you must do/bring to be compliant. This is our way of allowing last minute exams within our "stress-less" and timely office process. Hope it works as great for you as it works for us!
  • How does DOT Exam Clinic help me pass my physical?
This is a clinic where YOUR compliance is KEY through EDUCATION. Simply, we educate you so that you are fully aware of most obstacles to obtaining your medical card/certificate, and subsequently your commercial driver's license (CDL). Know about your condition, be familiar with requirements to drive/participate with that condition (this website is a good start), and obtain the proper testing/clearances. Our motto: "We don't pass you, your health does."
  • Can you say "In-N-Out Clinic?"
Like In-N-Out Burgers, but without the beef, lol! As best humanly possible, and with your compliance, the exam process is expedited while proficiently covering all areas as mandated to ensure safe driving (or athletic participation). We are in the people business. There is sufficient time to become acquainted with you AND get the job done. So, we don't rush it, but we don't waste time either.
  • Why such an affordable price?
Because we choose to! With the examination time greatly minimized because each driver/athlete is self-educated by the information on our website, the use of digital forms, and use of other technology and chat communication, we are able to maintain a seamless process which lessens our load all around. Although the prices can't remain the same forever, we strive to remain considerate of the varied situations of all of our clientele. Whether you are a seasoned company vetted driver, recently choosing a new career path, or simply keeping your CDL active. Please spread the word!
  • Why does DOT Exam Clinic enforce the regulations and guidelines of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) with such high standards?
When we enforce the laws and medical standards by staying current and up-to-date with health requirements, and sharing this information with you, the highways and streets are safer for you and the other road travelers! Supreme YAAYYYY!!! The medical health guidelines and regulations for drivers are not perfect, nor are they convenient to comply with. But they are necessary as they save many lives. "If it wasn't for my job and needing to get DOT physicals, I may not be here for my family. I hadn't gone to a doctor for years, for any kind of check-up. It was during a DOT exam a few years ago that I learned that I needed to go get checked. Didn't want to - but now I'm glad I did." Anonymous Driver, Austin, TX, March 2023
  • I have diabetes. My annual physical and lab work with my Primary Care Physician was more than 3-months ago. Can I use my Hemoglobin A1c lab results from then?
No. But wait! You will only need to show recent Hemoglobin A1c lab work during your DOT exam if you have increased glucose during the urinalysis portion of the exam (not caused by medication), meaning poorly controlled diabetes. Suggested options: 1. Schedule to get Hemoglobin A1c lab work with your doctor after your DOT exam. Then promptly return to our clinic with your lab results and to sign your medical card. 3. Save time by consenting to a Hemoglobin A1c during your DOT exam. Testing here is convenient and results are instant. An additional service fee is charged. Our Hemoglobin A1c is an "in-clinic" blood test that we perform only if needed after checking your urine and blood glucose levels.
  • Where can I get a sleep apnea test performed?
Google "at home sleep apnea testing" or "do I need a CPAP machine", OR Our clinic partners with an affordable & reputable sleep apnea company. If you choose to use us, we will need your information to get the process started. Call 346-429-5107 for assistance!
  • My medical card expires VERY soon, yet I need clearance letters and maybe a special annual test by my doctor to continue driving. How can you help?
A driver may only continue to operate a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) if he/she has a current medical certificate. If this is the case, the medical examiner can ONLY use a "determination pending" status for drivers who present with a medical condition that requires additional information (such as a clearance letter or additional testing) before making a final decision on certification. This allows the driver a max of 45 calendar days to return the required information from the date of the exam. This "determination pending" status is not available for issues concerning vision, hearing, seizure or insulin. Also, the status is not available if you have elevated blood pressure or elevated blood glucose/sugar. To avoid issues with renewing of your medical card, for your sake, please schedule/complete your exam sooner than later!
  • I get nervous and anxious during each exam - why is this and what can help?
The goal of DOT Exam Clinic is to get you in, out, and back to life. The education located on this website is more extensive on purpose to prepare each driver for the exam. Nervousness/Anxiety can be highly reduced or totally eliminated by knowing what YOU should expect for YOUR specific health state/condition. When you come in, we are aware that "White Coat Syndrome" is real. This is very understandable, because your health as it relates to the outcome of this exam affects your career. Within guidelines and medical reasoning, we have basic office protocols that allows your body to calm. And, we care. We are committed to informing you so that you can stay safe while driving!
